I did not like anything. For the same value you can get better place, better located. Its not super close to subway station. Its not for families or people that would feel unconfortable claimbing stairs all the time specially after an exhausting day in NYC.

The staff were very friendly, the room was extremely clean and the hotel was very quiet and very centrally located.

No lifts for luggage but this is understandable

The room and bathroom were clean, and that´s its most important asset as well at its location. it a small hotel for only go to sleep.

The hotel doens´t have elevator!!! Be aware! That is not explain in the website.I had to go to the forth floor with my luggage and no one from the hotel helped me.

Staff were extremely friendly and accomodating. When I asked for a room switch due to the loud construction outside they were more than accomodating to move me to another room and transfer our luggage for us.

The location is excellent for those looking for a cheap place to sleep on the upper West Side. I stress sleep because you get what you pay for and this hotel is bare bones. It is within very easy walking distance to the Museum of Natural History and the Beacon Theatre. They will hold your bags for free after you check out.

This is important. There is no elevator. There is a bar/restaurant on the ground floor so the hotel 'lobby' is on the second floor and the rooms continue up multiple floors from there. Those with bad knees or high heels beware. Also, wasn't crazy about giving the room key to the front desk everytime we left for the day.

I loved how close and convenient it was to many places. The private bathroom was nice.

The shower handle was hard to turn on and off.

Our room had a nice, clean, private bathroom. The towels were clean and fresh each morning. The subway entrance is very close. The hotel upgraded our room for whatever reason, and our room came with a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker and sink. If we had planed to stay longer perhaps these amenities would have come in handy. We could have saved a lot of money on food. There was no dust, no mold, no smells anywhere. The size of the room and bathroom were decent.

It was hot, and the room didn't have a temperature control. We were only on the 2nd floor, so I have no idea if the stairs were as bad as people say. The satellite TV didn't work so we couldn't watch anything, but its not like we spent much time in the room.

The location close to Central Park was good, although I might recommend to stay closer to Midtown. But subway stops were close. I guess price was ok given that we had a private bathroom (100 EUR a night).

Our sheets were not clean (hair and stains!). Floor was dirty (dust & hair). Staff were not super-friendly but maybe of minor importance. We had a room facing Amsterdam Avenue - horrible noise!! Couldn't sleep at all the first night, a little bit better the second one when using ear plugs. But we experienced the noise as if the traffic was almost in our room. Pub downstairs that makes noise too.

The location was great and the staff were so helpful and nice. It would have been good to have had a chair in our room so we could sit without both having to be on the bed. It was very clean and well maintained--good value for the money. Susan

This is the second time I have booked a weekend stay at the Amsterdam Inn, the price is great (reasonable) and the location is excellent. The Amsterdam Inn has done some renovations and looks so much better than my last visit there. I was impressed with my room, altho, I booked a double with shared bathroom I was surprised to have been given a double with my own private bathroom. The room had a new shower unit installed, bathroom was nice and clean. It also had a brand new fridge, microwave and a two burner cooking unit. I loved it. And I didn't experience any bed bug bites during my two visits. Their mattresses and box spring are wrapped in plastic. I had also looked them up in the bedbug registry website and they weren't on the list. I know this is a big concern to most people!!! So if your visit to NYC consists of just hanging out, shopping, and site seeing Amsterdam Inn is a perfect place. (but this is just my opinion) based on my own personal experience.

The pictures on the internet were better than the hotel, didn't feel safe in there, felt more like a hostel, bathrooms smelt, water didn't get hot in the shower.

Friendly staff, nice rooms, good price

I would have preferred somewhere more downtown, however it is close to the subway line. You can't really complain about the hotel because it has such a good rate. Although the rooms could be warmer.

The room I stayed in was extremelu noisy. People partying till late at night ...went to bed ar 12 and sleep at 3am.

Hotel staff should provide quiet rooms if possible.
